AI-Native Developer
Who we are
Morsegrid fixes what breaks when an ecommerce brand grows. We find the cause in a brand's own Shopify, helpdesk and ERP data first, then build the fix and train the team to run it.
We are a small, senior-led team with people in the USA, Bangladesh, Ireland and New Zealand. Trainees learn on real client systems next to senior people. We care about craft, plain communication and work that keeps running after we hand it over.
About the role
We're looking for an AI-Native Developer who builds intelligent, automated systems where AI does the reasoning and code does the execution.
This is not a prompt-engineering role. You will architect and ship agentic workflows, LLM-powered pipelines, and AI-integrated applications that run reliably in production.
Coding experience is strongly preferred. If you cannot read or write Python, you will hit a ceiling fast in this role.
What you'll achieve
- Build agentic workflows. Design and build agentic workflows using frameworks like Claude Agent SDK, LangChain, LangGraph, or custom orchestration logic.
- Integrate LLMs. Integrate LLMs (Claude, GPT-4, Gemini) into production systems: classification, extraction, generation, routing, and decision-making pipelines.
- Automate with intelligence. Build AI-augmented automation flows in Make.com or n8n that go beyond simple data transfer and include intelligent branching via LLM calls.
- Write Python scripts. Develop and maintain Python scripts for data processing, API orchestration, and AI pipeline execution.
- Build retrieval systems. Implement vector search, RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), and embedding-based systems for knowledge retrieval.
- Enable tool use. Build tool-use and function-calling architectures so AI agents can take deterministic actions reliably.
- Instrument AI pipelines. Instrument AI pipelines with observability: logging, eval loops, and quality monitoring.
- Improve AI outputs. Continuously improve AI outputs through structured evals, prompt iteration, and model routing decisions.
Skills you'll need to bring
- 2+ years building production software systems (any stack).
- Demonstrable experience shipping AI-powered features or automations to production.
- A portfolio showing real systems, not just notebooks or demo repos.
- Python (strongly preferred): scripting, API calls, async patterns, and data handling.
- LLM integration: Claude API / Anthropic SDK, OpenAI SDK, or equivalent.
- Agentic workflow design: multi-step reasoning chains, tool use, and memory patterns.
- No-code automation platforms: Make.com or n8n for wiring AI into business processes.
- Vector databases (Pinecone, Chroma, Supabase pgvector) and RAG architecture.
- REST API design and consumption, and webhook architecture.
- Git and basic DevOps (environment management, deployment basics).
- You're a systems thinker who designs for reliability, not just for the happy path.
- You're comfortable evaluating AI output quality and debugging probabilistic systems.
- You have a bias toward deterministic execution and push complexity into code, not prompts.
- You communicate trade-offs clearly without requiring technical background from the audience.
Nice to haves
- Experience with Claude Agent SDK or LangGraph for multi-agent orchestration.
- Familiarity with structured output, function calling, and tool-use patterns.
- Contributions to open-source AI tooling or published technical writing.
- JavaScript / TypeScript for full-stack AI application work.
- Experience with eval frameworks (RAGAS, LangSmith, custom binary evals).
- Background in NLP, data science, or ML engineering.
Benefits
- Competitive salary based on demonstrated output, not credentials
- Remote-first, async-friendly environment
- Work directly on the AI stack powering real client businesses
- Fast growth path: this role evolves into AI systems architecture as the team scales
How to apply
Show us something that runs in production. A GitHub repo with a README that says 'coming soon' does not count. We want to see how you think about failure modes, not just the happy path.
A note on AI
You don't need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect everyone here to be curious and to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. When AI fluency is a core requirement, the role says so in the skills list. People who do well here use AI to think better and check its work before it ships.
Equal opportunity
We hire people from a wide range of backgrounds. If you're excited about this role but don't meet every point, we still encourage you to apply. Morsegrid does not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected characteristic. If you need an adjustment during the application process, tell us and we will make it.
