SEO Specialist

Who we are

Morsegrid fixes what breaks when an ecommerce brand grows. We find the cause in a brand's own Shopify, helpdesk and ERP data first, then build the fix and train the team to run it.

We are a small, senior-led team with people in the USA, Bangladesh, Ireland and New Zealand. Trainees learn on real client systems next to senior people. We care about craft, plain communication and work that keeps running after we hand it over.

About the role

We're looking for an SEO Specialist to make Morsegrid and the ecommerce brands we work with easy to find, in Google and in AI answers. Buyers now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google's AI Overviews the questions they used to type into a search box. The brands that get named are the ones whose pages answer clearly, carry clean structured data and are mentioned on sites those tools trust.

You'll own organic search end to end: technical health, content that answers real buyer questions, local visibility in the regions we serve, and the reporting that shows what moved. You'll work with the founder on our own site and with the delivery team on client stores, most of them on Shopify.

This role combines strategic judgment with hands-on execution. You should be as comfortable writing a content brief as fixing a canonical tag or reading a Search Console indexing report.

What you'll achieve

  • Own technical SEO. Keep every page crawlable and indexable: sitemaps, canonicals, redirects, structured data, page speed and clean server-rendered HTML.
  • Win AI answers. Track how often ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Google AI Overviews name us and our clients, then change pages, schema and off-site mentions until that number moves.
  • Build content that ranks. Turn buyer questions into briefs and pages that answer them plainly, from glossary entries to comparison guides, and keep published pages current.
  • Grow local visibility. Build our presence in each region we serve through region pages, business profiles where they apply, and directory listings.
  • Improve client stores. Audit Shopify stores for our ecommerce clients and ship fixes to collections, product pages, internal links and structured data.
  • Earn mentions. Win citations and listings on directories, partner pages and industry sites that search engines and AI tools trust.
  • Measure and report. Use Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and analytics to report what moved each month, and make the case for change when something isn't working.
  • Scale with AI. Use AI tools for research, drafting and audits, and check every output before it ships.

Skills you'll need to bring

  • 3+ years in SEO, with results you can show: rankings, traffic or leads you moved, and how you moved them.
  • Technical SEO depth: crawling, indexing, canonicals, redirects, hreflang, sitemaps, robots.txt and JSON-LD structured data.
  • Hands-on use of Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, GA4 and at least one crawler such as Screaming Frog or Sitebulb.
  • Shopify SEO experience: themes, collections, product data and the apps that touch them.
  • Enough HTML and JavaScript knowledge to spot when a crawler sees an empty page.
  • A working view of how AI search picks its sources, and the habit of testing it instead of guessing.
  • Clear writing in plain English: you can brief a page or write it yourself.

Nice to haves

  • Local SEO across more than one country.
  • Experience with data-driven or programmatic pages.
  • Basic Python or SQL for working with large exports.
  • Agency or B2B experience.

What success looks like in your first six months

  • Run a full technical and content audit of morsegrid.com and ship the top fixes.
  • Get every page we publish indexed in Google and Bing, and keep it that way.
  • Set a baseline for how often AI assistants name Morsegrid, and move it.
  • Keep a steady publishing rhythm of posts that answer buyer questions.
  • Deliver at least one client SEO audit with the fixes shipped.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on demonstrated output
  • Remote-first, async-friendly environment
  • Work directly on live sites with real business impact
  • Growth path into leading search and content as the team grows

How to apply

Include one site or page whose search performance you improved: what you changed, and what moved. Search Console screenshots are welcome.

A note on AI

You don't need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect everyone here to be curious and to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. When AI fluency is a core requirement, the role says so in the skills list. People who do well here use AI to think better and check its work before it ships.

Equal opportunity

We hire people from a wide range of backgrounds. If you're excited about this role but don't meet every point, we still encourage you to apply. Morsegrid does not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected characteristic. If you need an adjustment during the application process, tell us and we will make it.
