Morsegrid fixes what breaks when an ecommerce brand grows. We find the cause in a brand's own Shopify, helpdesk and ERP data first, then build the fix and train the team to run it.
We are a small, senior-led team with people in the USA, Bangladesh, Ireland and New Zealand. Trainees learn on real client systems next to senior people. We care about craft, plain communication and work that keeps running after we hand it over.
About the role
We're looking for a Shopify Developer who builds and maintains ecommerce storefronts and automates the manual, repetitive work that slows down store operations.
This is not a template-click role. You will be expected to integrate AI tools, no-code automation platforms, and custom code to create systems that run without hand-holding.
What you'll achieve
- Build storefronts. Build, customize, and maintain Shopify storefronts using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Automate workflows. Design and implement automation workflows using Make.com, n8n, or Zapier to connect Shopify with third-party tools (CRMs, ERPs, fulfillment, email platforms).
- Add AI features. Integrate AI-powered features: product recommendation engines, automated tagging, dynamic pricing triggers, and customer segmentation flows.
- Build apps and integrations. Build and maintain Shopify apps or custom integrations via the REST and GraphQL Admin API.
- Automate store operations. Automate order management, inventory sync, and customer lifecycle workflows end-to-end.
- Replace manual processes. Collaborate with the team to identify manual processes and replace them with connected, automated systems.
- Document automations. Maintain clean documentation so automations can be handed off without tribal knowledge.
Skills you'll need to bring
- 2+ years of Shopify development experience (custom themes and app integrations).
- Demonstrable experience shipping automation workflows, not just storefronts.
- Shopify Liquid, with Hydrogen or Headless Shopify as a bonus.
- Proficiency in at least one no-code automation platform: Make.com, n8n, or Zapier.
- Shopify Admin API (REST and GraphQL).
- JavaScript / Node.js for custom scripts and webhooks.
- Working knowledge of AI tools such as Claude, GPT, or equivalent for content generation, classification, or workflow routing.
- Webhook architecture and event-driven system design.
- You're a systems thinker who sees the process before writing a line of code.
- You're self-directed and can scope, build, and ship without hand-holding.
- You communicate blockers early, not after deadlines are missed.
- You're comfortable with ambiguity and changing requirements.
Nice to haves
- Experience building agentic workflows (multi-step AI pipelines with decision logic).
- Familiarity with Klaviyo, Gorgias, or Recharge integrations.
- Exposure to Python for data processing or API orchestration.
- Contribution to open-source Shopify tools or public automation templates.
