Global Sourcing & Partnerships Trainee
Who we are
Morsegrid fixes what breaks when an ecommerce brand grows. We find the cause in a brand's own Shopify, helpdesk and ERP data first, then build the fix and train the team to run it.
We are a small, senior-led team with people in the USA, Bangladesh, Ireland and New Zealand. Trainees learn on real client systems next to senior people. We care about craft, plain communication and work that keeps running after we hand it over.
About the role
We're hiring a Global Sourcing & Partnerships Trainee. This is the entry route into the same team as our Global Sourcing & Partnerships Specialist. You don't need sourcing experience. You need to be curious, careful and willing to chase an answer until it is solid.
You'll work on real briefs for the brands we serve: finding suppliers and manufacturers in the United States, Europe, China and other major economies, checking them, and researching companies a client could partner with or buy. A senior teammate reviews your shortlists and your first messages before they go out, and leads every negotiation.
This is a full-time Morsegrid role. The work grows from research support into running your own sourcing rounds, and we will tell you plainly what you need to show to get there.
What you'll achieve
- Build supplier longlists. Find suppliers and manufacturers for a client brief from trade databases, directories and registries.
- Check every supplier. Run the checklist on each one: registration, references, certifications and samples, and write down what you found.
- Draft first contact. Draft first emails and messages for review, send them once approved, then chase replies and quote requests.
- Compare options. Fill in the landed-cost comparison: price, minimum order, freight, duties and lead time.
- Research companies. Gather public information on companies a client could partner with or buy, and write the first draft of a one-page brief.
- Keep the tracker. Log every supplier, company, message and quote in the shared tracker, so nothing is lost and anyone can see where it stands.
- Learn the craft. Learn freight, customs, duties and Incoterms, and how to read a supplier's answers, with a senior teammate teaching you on live work.
- Use AI well. Use AI tools for research and drafting, and check every number and claim before it goes in a brief.
Skills you'll need to bring
- No sourcing or procurement experience required, and no degree requirement.
- Clear written English: your emails will represent us to suppliers.
- Comfort in spreadsheets: sorting, filtering and comparing columns without breaking the data.
- You can research a company or product from public sources and show where each fact came from.
- You follow up, and you keep a record of every reply.
- You tell us when you don't know something instead of guessing.
- Evidence that you can finish something on your own: a project, a shop, a piece of research, a thesis.
- You use AI tools as a working instrument and check what they give you.
Nice to haves
- Experience selling or buying online, even a small shop.
- A language that helps with suppliers, such as Mandarin.
- Interest in automotive, motorcycle or ecommerce products.
- Any exposure to supply chain, trade, procurement or business research.
What success looks like in your first six months
- Learn the briefs and the checklist, and complete a supplier longlist where every fact has a source.
- Send your first approved supplier contacts and log every reply.
- Take one product line from longlist to landed-cost comparison, with review.
- Write your first partner or company brief to a standard the founder can act on.
- Be ready to run a small sourcing round yourself, with a senior teammate reviewing it.
Benefits
- Full time, remote-first
- Training on real briefs next to a senior teammate
- Pay set on the person and the work they show
- A clear path to the Specialist role as you show you can run rounds yourself
How to apply
Include one thing you researched or found on your own: a product, a supplier, a company. Tell us how you found it and how you checked it. Applications without a real example will not be reviewed.
A note on AI
You don't need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect everyone here to be curious and to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. When AI fluency is a core requirement, the role says so in the skills list. People who do well here use AI to think better and check its work before it ships.
Equal opportunity
We hire people from a wide range of backgrounds. If you're excited about this role but don't meet every point, we still encourage you to apply. Morsegrid does not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected characteristic. If you need an adjustment during the application process, tell us and we will make it.
